Hi-
I have a 4 year old Redbud tree. I am about to move and would like to take it with me. Is it possible to move the tree at this stage? If so, how much work would be involved and what would be a guess estimate of the cost? Thank you |

there are to many missing variables here to give any acurate info
for instance is the tree acessiable by spaid truck and is the other property or does this have to be done by other means how far is the move have you or would yor want to do root pruning prior to the move (it does take time but is recomended) is there going to be additonal cost site prep, soil removal, damage to lawn or property???? |

I don't know the dripline to rootball ratio, but the larger the rootball, the better the results will be.
And don't transplant it too deep! |

If the caliper of the tree is 2.0" or less, (maybe 2.5) and under 12 or so feet tall, it should be quite easy to transplant. Likely the rootball would only need to be 2 feet wide and weigh 500 pounds. Should be done by a professional, but shouldn't need any heavy equipment.
Dr Wood made good points. |
