Default Operating Equipment

I have recently had serveral interviews with people reguarding the position of an equipment opperator. Unfortinately I have been extremely unhappy with the results I have been getting. Many people claim to have the experience necessary for opperating equipment, but the question is, can they opperate efficiantly? One question I always like to ask is,"Have you ever flipped a machine"? You usally get a pretty quick response stating," No I have never flipped any machine, I am a very safe opperator". In my oppinion, I think every good opperator should flip a machine at least once. This way you know your limitations and that of the machines. On the other hand, if it happens once a week, I would definately say you arent safe. If you aggree with this forum, leave a comment, let me know what you would say or ask an interviewee.

Default Equipment Operators

Its hard to find good equipement operators you almost have to train them from scratch it seems.

Exclamation response to B.murphy

safe opperator haha
I believe that if your on a job site with people working aroud you
and in a position to cause personal and property damage that part of being a safe opperator is knowing your limitations and not exceeding them and as far is being efficent please explain how a machine up side down and your crew having to stop and help and your mechanic doing unnecessary repairs is efficent

I dont think you should flip one, but get it right there about to go. You never know your, or a machines limitations, if you dont push the envelope you'll never know where those limits are! But property, personal, or other damage shouldnt be neccesary.

Exactly you got to know your limits. Some times a good operator has to come near those limits when an emergency situation develops. Every good operator knows the limits of his equipment. If you dont your not a very good operator. But I agree when it starts to flip over that the time to learn not when it goes over.
