However, when it comes to a pine tree, the cutting times are early summer or late spring. This is due to the distinct pattern of its growth. Pine tree cutting demands professional hands because a poorly trimmed tree is going to look unattractive in your yard.
Pines are evergreen trees and are admired by everybody. Mostly, they demand more care than ordinary trees. They grow from the tips out and do not let new growth to come on the wood from previous season. It is never a good idea to try pine cutting during the growth season because it can affect the shape, height and density of every branch.
New growth on branches of pines are known as “candles” because they look more like actual pale candles forming at the tip of every branch and the top of every tree. These candles look very elegant and resemble table candles, in fact, the new ones are skinny enough to pass as birthday cake candles. You will definitely notice them during the growing season of pines. They are light in color and tend to form clusters.
In order to control the length of these and create more density, you have to trim the candles. However, you cannot just ruthlessly grab the newly formed limbs and start cutting. If you do not have adequate knowledge, you can mess up the tree and you will never get to see its old glory again. Therefore, you should always consult a professional arborist or tree services that are qualified in dealing with each tree and its limbs.
After the buds start stretching out to become candles, you should start thinking about trimming. You can do either of the two things: completely remove the candle or actually trim it. If you want to remove it completely, you have to do it when it is obvious that there is strong growth in a specific portion of the tree.
The top trimming of the tree is also quite an artistic job. If you have had the chance of buying a Christmas tree, you probably have seen the results of a badly-trimmed tree. You might see knotted branches struggling to gain independence around the area. In order to cut the peak of a pine area properly, you have to be very careful not to mess up the shape. Pines are beautiful but you have to careful while planning their trimming procedure.
