think of it as a good idea but tying a rope to the bumper and pulling the stump out with it is definitely not the best thing you could do to the bumper and the stump. Stump removal mainly depends on its size and how well it has been loosened. If it is too strong, you could even break your axe or pull off the poor bumper.
Stump removal is not as difficult as it seems. There are a few simple things that you have to consider before starting the process. Once you make a plan, it gets easier to go step by step. First of all, you have to take into account the actual size of the stump that is to be removed. It could be just a bush or a tiny tree. But in most of the cases, it is the truly large trees that pose difficulty. For smaller things, you just need a lawn bar, a spade and some elbow grease. However, for larger tree stumps with great weight and size, you need a tree grinder because of the widespread roots. You can get a grinding machine on rent and return it after finishing the work.
For thick stems of woody bushes, you have to cut the bush to make it manageable enough before you begin the digging part. It is a good idea to leave two feet of the bush because sometimes you need little bit of something to grip if you have to pull the stump out. Instead of having larger tree trunks, it is easier if the tree’s size is small or medium because the height gives you power to push against.
You will begin my digging the area around the stump. You do not necessarily have to dig right up against the stump because usually the roots tend to be denser in that area. You can start some inches from the trunk and dig away from it by throwing the dirt outside the hole. Basically, there has to be a trench made around the stump. As the roots begin to appear on the ground, you will need to use the lawn bar. In order to remove the stump, you have to try to sharpen the end that is flat bladed. Uncover the roots successfully and jam the lawn bar into the trench thus cutting all the roots. Now, haul the stump from the ground easily.
